The Bipolar Disorder is a cyclical disease, with an unpredictable evolution and variable prognosis. Let us be very careful when judging a person for the simple fact that they are upset today, and tomorrow they are over it; or because they simply think differently from one day to the next. There are also personality disorders that are confused with bipolarity.

But how do I know if it is bipolar I disorder?, because it is characterized by the presence of one or more episodes of mania or mixed episodes (mania and depression).

The Bipolar Disorder is characterized by the existence of major depressive episodes over time together with hypomanic episodes, so there must be the presence or history of one or more episodes of major depression, the presence or history of a hypomanic episode and never having had any manic or mixed episode.

Clinical evaluation and psychometric tests are ideal for a more accurate diagnosis in these cases. If you suspect that a family member has it, it's best to seek professional help.
